Question, #11, in the October 16,
2012 debate was – the Ipad, Iphone, and more are built in China how do you
convince the company to bring jobs here. Mitt Romney said – the answer is
straight forward, you even the playing field; China has been cheating for years:
1) by manipulating currency and stealing our intellectual property, they hack
into our computers, 2) by making America more attractive for business – the
President’s characterization of my tax plan is false. Candy Crowley, the
moderator, interrupted him because there was no time left.
The President said there are some
jobs that aren’t going to come back because they’re low wage, low skill jobs; I
want high wage, high skilled jobs and that’s why we have to emphasize
manufacturing and invest in advanced manufacturing; that’s why we have to have
the best science and research in the world; if we’re talking about deficits and
adding to it with tax cuts for those that don’t need them then we’re talking
about cutting the investments in research and science that will create the jobs
and innovation that will sell products around the world and we will lose that
race, if we don’t train engineers companies won’t come here; those investments
will ensure that we lead an economy not just next year but in years down the
road. Romney quickly intervened with - government does not create jobs.
I remember the hullabaloo that was
created when the President said if you started a business you didn’t do it
alone. I believe he was right - education, technology, workers, and more takes
your dreams and make them a reality. As such, I believe that government supports
job creation. The government supplies funds for education, materials, and
research which allow all that assisted you in your endeavor and this needs to
continue. If you look at the big picture, the tax code and greed has encouraged
jobs to go overseas. Until we discourage these things that cause us to have
more billionaires relative to the population - our economy will continue to bounce
up and down. The bottom line is our politicians need to do what the Constitution
states and set aside their Party affiliations and do what’s best for the
country.
