On August 27, 2012 Tagg Romney (Mitt’s oldest) said to
ABC’s Diane Sawyer that his – “Dad ended up picking the person he thought best
to step in should something happen to him and somebody he thought would be able
to pick up the mantra of the Republican Party 8 years from now.” On August 28,
2012 ABC asked Marco Rubio about Paul Ryan and his response was “Millions of
Americans will get to know Paul Ryan the way many of us know him – as a serious
policy thinker, someone who brings a unique life experience, a unique
perspective on some of the issues that we face, because of his age, because of
our generation. But at the same time, someone who is as deep and as serious a
thinker on our issues as ever before”. Mitt in his convention speech said “By
my side I’ve chosen a man with a big heart from a little town. He represents
the best of America, a man who will always make us very proud…What I got to see
in Paul Ryan, a strong and caring leader who’s down to earth and confident in
the challenge this moment demands.”
On August 17 Ryan after repeated denials and sharp
criticism of the stimulus program finally admitted to requesting money for
Wisconsin (the reporter had the 2009 letters in hand); Ryan called the requests
constituent services to justify his denials. After Republican Todd Akin’s
remarks regarding legitimate rape, Ryan on August 23 in an interview with Virginia’s WJHL–TV
basically said rape is a method of conception. On September 1 a Huffington Post
article addressed Ryan stretching the truth about: the 2008 closing of a
Wisconsin plant and having "a 2:50 something" marathon to which
Runner's World said the only marathon he ran was the 1990 Grandma’s Marathon in
Duluth, Minnesota which he finished in 4:01:25. The New York Times' Paul Krugman
said - The running fib "sounds trivial but I remember the
2000 campaign when Al Gore was constantly hounded by claims of fibbing on
trivial issues, claims that by the way were all as far as I could tell
fabricated. These alleged fibs supposedly showed some deep defect in his
character. So if Ryan is making false claims about his physical prowess this is
absolutely fair game."
Paul Ryan is NOT the best of America. He’s voted against
the average American in employment discrimination laws, wage increases,
mortgage-housing-foreclosure-flood relief, protecting seniors, miners and
whistleblowers, unemployment extensions, price gouging, food safety and OSHA
standards, GI Bill extension, credit card regulations and more.
