Republicans at Their Best

The President in the October 3, 2012 debate said under Governor Romney’s plan Donald Trump is a small business. It’s estimated that Trump in his various businesses employs between 15,000 – 22,000 people so I think the Obama pulled a Romney here. Trump is the son of a wealthy New York City real-estate developer; was sent to military school at age 13 because of problems (I don’t think he got rid of his temper); began working for his father in 1966, officially joined the company in 1968; was given control of the company in 1971; on February 17, 2009 Trump Entertainment Resorts filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy; and he never released his 2011 tax return as he stated he would when the President released his long form birth certificate. The Smoking Gun reviewed the Trump Foundation IRS forms and concluded Trump “may be the least charitable billionaire in the US”; Trump's foundation gave $6.7 million to charity over the past 20 years and Trump wasn’t the top giver to his own foundation—Vince McMahon gave $4 million in 2007 in exchange for help promoting Wrestlemania; Trump looks bad next to the late “queen of mean,” Leona Helmsley–she gave $5 million in the wake of 9/11 and another $5 million following Hurricane Katrina and really bad next to Democrat Michael Bloomberg who gave $235 million in 2008 alone.” As of September 2012 Forbes shows Trump as being worth $3.1 billion.
Let’s look at some other Republicans. On the January 31 episode of The View I heard Fox News accused the Muppets of being anti-oil in their new movie; Kermit said-if we had a problem with oil why would we have spent so much time driving around in a gas guzzling Rolls Royce and Miss Piggy said-that would be like accusing Fox News of being news. When the Jobs report came out October 5 showing unemployment dropping to 7.8% Romney said the rate dropped because more people stopped looking for work – economists said – some have dropped out, but there was a surge in baby boomers retiring and there was more hiring. Rush Limbaugh and Jack Welch (owner of the Jack Welch Management Institute and former CEO of GE) on Fox News said the White House cooked the books. ABC discovered that no one gets the numbers before hand and there is no chance of the numbers being manipulated by the White House or anyone else; the conservative American Enterprise Institute said - talk like that should be confined to crazy town. Labor statistics have been calculated in the same way since 1884 but since they don’t suit today’s Republicans they throw a fit. Because of Romney’s Big Bird comment on October 3 he received $12 million in donations. Records show PBS (354 stations) got about $300 million in 2010 and is budgeted for $445 million (1/100th of 1%) in 2015; a drop in the bucket looking at the big picture and it’s said 69% of Americans support PBS. Every developed country in the world, including Russia, supports public broadcasting – do we want to lag behind in this area also.
My point is average Americans help one another while Republicans appear to be the Al Qaeda of our society; they are moving us away from the principles of our Constitution and we are becoming more like undeveloped countries.
